Moulins de Kleinbettingen – Tradition and expertise

Located in western Luxembourg, in a small village in the middle of the countryside, Moulins de Kleinbettingen is owned by the Muller family, which has been processing cereal products since 1704 and which today has one of the most modern mills in Europe.

At Kleinbettingen, cereals are far more than a simple foodstuff, they’re the focus of real passion. Indeed today, representing the 11th generation of the Muller family, Jean Muller, Managing Director, and his staff devote all their expertise and knowledge to turning their cereals into extremely high-quality products.

Company philosophy focused on local sourcing

As a major player in Luxembourg’s economy, Moulins de Kleinbettingen are mindful of how the company plays an important role in showcasing our regional ecosystem. This means that the team running Kleinbettingen chooses to use locally sourced ingredients and is committed to producing in Luxembourg everything that can possibly be produced here. By so doing, Moulins de Kleinbettingen, shows its unswerving determination to promote short transport circuits and to minimise environmental impact. Because of this vision, Moulins de Kleinbettingen is able to maintain relationships of trust with local farmers and support their commitment to growing wheat in a way that’s environmentally-friendly for the land.

“By using our age-old milling methods and by being determined to actively promote and support sustainable agriculture, we’re committed to doing our utmost to provide our customers with natural, top-quality, flavoursome flour and pasta.”

LE MOULIN flours

Produced with passion, LE MOULIN flours also benefit from milling traditions passed down from one generation to the next.

Flours are milled every day using sustainably grown Luxembourg wheat, which is carefully selected to ensure the finest quality. Moulins de Kleinbettingen works very closely with Luxembourg farmers who also share the same passion for cereals so as to ensure consistent quality over time.

LE MOULIN flours are 100% natural and contain no additives or preservatives.

In our Cactus supermarkets, you’ll now find a range of eight different flours. Thanks to their individual characteristics, there’s the right flour for whatever you need and they’ll all enable you to add a touch of local flavour to your food.

Traditional flours

Our range includes the following types of standard flour: gastronomy, multi-use, spelt, patisserie and pizza.

“La Gastronomie”

This flour is sieved using a unique process, forming part of the company’s know-how which has been handed down through the generations. Since this flour is so fine, your cooking is guaranteed to be lump-free, which makes this an ideal flour for sauces and pancake/waffle batter.

Organic flours

The organic flour range is great for your cakes and desserts, as well as for your day-to-day recipes – and for homemade bread there’s a wholemeal variety, high in fibre and minerals.

The first and only pasta which starts out being cultivated in fields here in Luxembourg! To produce great pasta, it’s really important to use top-quality semolina. The semolina used by Moulins de Kleinbettingen to make their pasta comes solely from durum wheat grown in Luxembourg. This pasta is produced traditionally with great passion by millers determined to draw on family tradition to produce natural, local products which are deeply rooted in the area.

With so much passion and expertise, no wonder that the end product is so unique and delicious!

We currently stock the following pasta types which are all 100% Luxembourgish: Spaghetti, Spaghettini, Tagliatelle, Linguine, Macaroni, Fusilli, Penne, Pipe Rigate and Spätzle.
