Andrea Marques, Department Manager: “Organic products have an increasingly important part to play”

Rice, tinned vegetables, cereals, crisps, and so on. Do you know how many different products you can find in your supermarket and in the non-perishable food section alone? Hold on tight, as these figures might send your head spinning! At La Belle Etoile, you’d reckon on over 20,000. As for the Cactus store in Bereldange, 12,000: and to manage this astronomical quantity is a team headed by Andrea Marques, for whom department management equals organisation!

Cactus’ wine expertise has not come about by chance…

Interview with Damien Lassance, Wine Expert and President of the Cactus Luxembourg Vin sur Vin Club

A Cactus wine expert since 2000, a gastronomy devotee and enthusiastic president of the Vin sur Vin Club, Damien Lassance is absolutely delighted to attend different events that deepen his experience of wine and generally allow him to discover flavours. His accurate assessments at the many tastings he has attended have earned him recognition among his peers: well-known oenologists, wine merchants and sommeliers. He is invited each year to the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions along with the Concours Agricole de Paris and the Berlin Wine Trophy. During these blind tastings, Lassance is responsible for judging wines from the world over and for awarding, with his jury, the most prestigious medals.

Dino Cosic, Cheese Counter Manager: “I’m lucky to be able to work with a product I can really showcase”

If you enjoy eating cheese, coming face to face with a display counter containing a wide selection is a real joy! Hard cheeses, soft cheeses, blue-veined cheeses and so on. Cheese lovers can find what they’re looking for in all our Cactus stores. And this is particularly true of our Ingeldorf store where customers are served every day by Dino Cosic, the Cheese Counter Manager. MyCactus went to meet Dino.

D-5… Opening of the new Cactus Marché Ettelbruck

You will find it smart, impeccable from floor to ceiling, with everything radiant, and even the fruit looks as if it has been individually polished. The smiling, enthusiastic staff welcomes you, and helps you to get your bearings amongst the perfectly-stacked shelves. What if we told you that, just a few days earlier, this area was still a building site. How did they pull it off?

Carmen Azevedo, checkout assistant: “Why service with a smile is all-important!”

Before leaving the store where you’ve just done your shopping: there’s one last thing you obviously have to do and that is go through the checkout. And there to serve you will be a checkout assistant, whose work involves far more than simply scanning your items. To discuss the various aspects of this profession, we headed to the Cactus store in Merl to meet the bright and convivial Carmen Azevedo.
